Lost somewhere in the intersection of storytelling, design, and technology.

Hello. I’m Jason. I create digital editorial products. While not working, I look for the best sandwich in town.

For the past six years, I worked as a News Designer, Senior Product Designer, and Lead Engineer at The Washington Post where I’ve helped design and develop products like The Washington Post design system, The Post’s 2020 election design system, multimedia stories, apple news articles, and internal publishing tools.

Before The Post, I created the graphics and data desk at Oregon Public Broadcasting where I worked on static and interactive graphics, Slack bots, multimedia story verticals, and news apps. I established and maintained the hosting infrastructure, design methodology, and our in-house graphics creation tool.

Before the graphics desk, I launched an iPad magazine, where I had to balance the needs of marketing, editorial, and development teams with that of the audience. I designed the visual brand, created an editorial process, created a sponsorship model, and launched marketing campaigns.

I’m not active online like I used to be, but I have Twitter and GitHub. And I used to build silly things on CodePen.
